Before you wire any money

I will never email or text you wiring instructions, and a legitimate escrow company will not change its instructions by email. Criminals send convincing fake instructions during real estate transactions. Before you wire a deposit or closing funds, call your escrow officer at a phone number you already know is real, not one in the email. Confirm the instructions by voice.
